Irish ART

2011/2012
JACK B. YEATS

Aidan, our language assistant, was born in Ireland. He is also 1st C History and Geography teacher.
I invited him to tell us about a famous painter in his country and... he chose Jack B Yeats. I never had heard of him before. He was really great! And Aidan too! Thank you very very much.
The video inside the presentation is here.

More about Butler Yeats on YouTube.

Wonderful song too: "Cathain" by the former "Hot House Flowers" singer Liam O'Maonlaí.
Don't try to understand its lyrics, it's not English but Irish. Irish is also known as Irish Gaelic, It is a Goidelic language of the Indo-European language family, originating in Ireland and historically spoken by the Irish people. Irish is now spoken as a first language by a small minority of Irish people, as well as being a second language of a larger proportion of the population.

And this is the one I chose:

FRANCIS BACON

Recently, Aidan has discovered this wonderful artist:

GRAHAM KNUTTEL
Graham Knuttel is an Irish painter and sculptor, whose work has been collected by various celebrities, such as Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Jordan and Michael Stipe. Initially known for sculptures, he has since become a painter. "When I paint my primary concern is colour", he says.
